WOYWW #396

Hello and happy Wednesday! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy New Year to everyone. Now that the holidays are over I am trying to get moving on some crafting projects. One is a bookmark I promised by daughter a while ago with this cute Uptown Girls stamp. So that is all that is on my work desk this week! I was having some issues and some thing that shouldn't have taken very long to do was taking forever. I just wanted to cut a few tags out with the Cricut and they weren't coming out to the size that I wanted. It turns out the settings were set to metric so everything I cut was coming out smaller than I expected! Oops.

So that is what is currently sitting on my work desk this Wednesday. What is sitting on your work desk? Head on over to the Stamping Ground and show us.

  1. Hi Nancy, your post made me smile! Although the UK uses metric now, I am old enough that I learnt & used Imperial for a long time, plus we both work in the aircraft industry, which also uses Imperial. So, last Christmas, looking for a present for Hubby, I saw a lovely canvas with a dragon picture on. I automatically thought the dimensions given were in metric- they weren't, lol. Parcel turned up, and I had a heck of a shock. I'd been expecting something about 12" x20" roughly- what turned up was almost the size of a room divider!Fortunately we had a wall space big enough, but it's safe to say it didn't get gift wrapped! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #3 xx ( Edited for typos,!)

  2. Nancy! You posted in WOYWW! Fantastic! Good to see you! The bookmark looks fun. A lot of times I do something that takes longer than it should! Usually, it is either because I can't find something and hunt for an hour, or it is because I have to refill the tape dispenser-the big pink one! LOL It takes me an hour to figure that one out!

  3. I wont tell you how long I had to search for a needle to do the stitching... ( that box that contains the tools is evidently well hidden) and after lots of lost time I finally found one loose stray one in the bottom of one of the boxes of threads ( I am rolling my eyes) and I had no clue the cricuts could cut in metric, so I am glad you shared that so hopefully that is something I can remember later if it happens to me. Thanks for the earlier visit, ~Stacy #41

  4. Glad you noticed the mistake or you would be really frustrated!! I made a few bookmarks for Christmas Gifts this year, they are fun to make! Happy New Year! Lindart #37

  5. Such a tidy desk! Would you like to come and help me clean mine? LOL
    Happy WOYWW!

  6. Happy new year Nancy, nice to see your desk. Tidy, even though you're in the middle of creating! And the thing with the Cricut and the are so not alone!!

  7. I think that is one of the reasons I love my Cuttlebug... no sizes required.. It does mean needing more dies though.. but it does what I need.

Thank you for sharing your space with us.

    Happy New Year

  8. Happy New Year, Nancy. Good to meet you. Oh, how I understand the metric versus imperial stuff! When dress making, sewing curtains or whatever I think in feet and inches, round it up to yards, then order it in metres!!! That way I know I'll have sufficient.
    Take care. God bless.

  9. Great looking desk and project in the works. I will have to figure out if the metric/imperial issue is what I am having problems with on my circuit. I have the new Close to My Heart stamps and Circuit cartridge and I cut some stuff out and it seemed too big for my stamp! I have some of their dies and stamps and love them! Happy New Year! 10. Happy New Year! Glad you are getting time to craft again. Love seeing your creations!
