WOYWW #236

Good morning and happy Wednesday! I hope every one is able to keep up with the Christmas frenzy. It is time for another What's on your work desk? Wednesday. If you don't know what it is all about or you want to play along, then visit Julia Dunnit's blog. She is the brainchild of this fun peak into what other crafters are working on.

I have been working on some gift card holders that need to get into the mail. I should really think about my papers and embellishments before I start cutting and putting things together but I didn't! You can in the bottom right corner I started to cut out some scalloped circles and then I realized I had some card/page candy from a swap I hosted several years ago. I looked through my stash and found two embellishments that were perfect for these. The colors matched my papers perfectly. How lucky was that?

Christmas Tags

Hello and happy Monday! I hope every one had a productive and relaxing weekend. I have been working on some Christmas tags. I wanted to keep these simple. For some reason I wanted to stick to red and kraft cardstock. So that's what I did! Just in time for holiday gifts!!

This one opens!

WOYWW #235

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Another Wednesday which means it is time for What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday. If you have never played along or want to find out more, than head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog  to see what all the fuss is about!

Just a quick post as I am trying to work on some Christmas tags. I haven't gotten too far. I only have four made! So I need to get busy and get some more made. My picture is a little deceiving. Most of my mess in on the table that is behind me! Also, all the bits or paper are way over on the left side out of view. As I make more tags, it probably won't stay looking so neat and pretty though!

Making a List...

Hello and happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving and has recovered from their food comas! I went to Target today and found the Christmas sticky note pads in the $1 section. I was so excited and bought 6! There were two different designs. So it is that time of year to make matchbook post-it note holders! These make great stocking stuffers.

These are 3x3 sticky note pads. I cut my cardstock and score a little differently then some tutorials.  I cut the cardstock at 3.25 x 9.75 inches. Then I score the long side at 3 5/8" , 4" , and 8.25"  I like to keep it a little long because I don't know which border or edge punch I might use. The extra length ensures the top flap will show through the punch design if needed. I can always trim the top flap if I need to.

Here's a quick tip....I cut the sentiment with my Cricut at .7" Yes that says point 7 inches! Which is small. Well sometimes the Cricut or rather the paper (or both maybe) do not cut very well especially when the design is intricate or small. Some papers have a white core and the white core doesn't always cut well, also. So I take my cardstock and I put it face down on my mat. For this image, I also flipped it so it would cut backwards. I still want the front of the cardstock to face up when I am done.  For some reason, if the smooth side is up, the blade cuts cleaner and I don't have torn parts.

WOYWW #234

Hello! It is Wednesday and so it is time for another What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday. If you are new to WOYWW, the head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog to see what it is all about and join in the fun.

My desk was quite messy yesterday but I cleaned it! Well I got most of it clean. I still have a few leftover things out from Sunday when I made 2 quick cards. Today I decided to try and make a few Christmas cards. I found the Christmas stamp in my stash and it still had the price on it (it was only 99 cents so I don't feel bad that this is the first time I used it). I stamped the tree with silver ink but it didn't do much for me so I embossed over the silver with holographic embossing power (another item from my stash). I think you can see the different colors the holographic powder makes on the first card. Also, the silver paper is all glitter.  There isn't anything too original about these cards but it is a start!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello! I had house guests this week and didn't have time to craft or to post anything new (even though I had some completed projects). I did have time today to make this Thanksgiving card. I used my Cricut to cut the leaves. I didn't have anything Thanksgiving stamps so I just printed the sentiment out.

Home

Hello and happy Friday everyone! It was a busy day today and I can't wait for the weekend. No big plans but to clean the house and relax and hopefully have a little time to get crafty. I have house guests coming on Tuesday so I might not get much craft time in.

I made this layout yesterday. I used my two favorite colors, pink and green.

This Is My Hand....

Hello! I had fun making this layout. It came together pretty quickly once I found the paper I wanted to use. Plus I got out some supplies I haven't used in a while too!

We had our first snow of the season today! So I didn't have any nice, natural sunlight to take my photo. My son was sooooo excited. He is hoping it snows some more tomorrow so there will be enough snow to make a snowman!

WOYWW #231

Hello and happy Wednesday! It is another What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday. If you are not sure what WOYWW is all about, then head on over the Julia Dunnit's blog and find out.

I am so excited because not only did I get to work on a layout but I actually finished it the same day! Whoo hoo! Lately it seems that I start a layout but don't finish it until several days later.

My desk looks neat but you are only seeing a small portion of the desk. The rest is quite messy. As well as the table behind me and the floor. I have a habit of pulling out my supplies and digging through them while sitting on the floor.

WOYWW #230

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for another WOYWW. If your not sure what it's all about, head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog to see and play along. I have actually been getting a little bit of scrabbooking done lately. I started working on this layout yesterday after dinner and finally got it finished today. You can see I've got my Gypsy on and I was in the middle of looking for some snowflake images to cut when I realized what day it was!

So what's on your workdesk?

Strike

Hello! I can't believe October is almost over. Soon I will be bagging leaves. The backyard already has plenty of leaves on the ground. The front yard, not so much ...yet!

I have a quick layout to share. I used the October sketch from My Creative Sketches for this layout. All the DP is BasicGrey's Life of the Party. I used my Cricut to cut out the stars, circle and scallop circle. I even used my Cricut to make the chevron pattern and I used it as a stencil with some Gelatos.

Halloween Fun

Hello! It's almost Halloween and I needed to get going and get a card made before it zipped on by. I made this for my daughter who is  away at college. This is going in a box with some extra goodies for her.

Autumn Days

Hello! Another Fall layout. This started out as a single page layout that was a make and take at ScrapFest. The single page layout was ok but I had more than one or two pictures to scrap. I didn't have any of the paper that was used so I took some other paper that I had in my stash and tried to make the two pages look like they belonged together.

This is the original layout from ScrapFest. You'll notice I made a few changes! Thanks for looking.

Horsin' Around

Happy Friday! I hope every one had a great week. I am looking forward to the weekend. The kids are anxiously waiting to go to the pumpkin patch.  October seems to be flying by.

Here's another single page layout.  I have a new obsession, burlap! I love the texture and it sure makes nice embellishments! I think I need to upload a higher resolution photo so you can read the quote better (I can't read it on my iPad!). It says "In riding a horse, we borrow freedom" and it's  by Helen Thompson

WOYWW #227

Good morning and happy WOYWW! If your wondering what WOYWW is, it stands for What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday. The brainchild of Julia Dunnit and you can visit her blog to join in the fun.

I actually have a completed layout on my desk that is waiting for me to put in an album. I took some inspiration from another layout here. I used two SVG files to cut out the skyline and the silouette of Mary Poppins. I popped her up with foam dots. As I am sitting here posting this and looking at the mess I need to clean, I spy the negative of the skyline and just had an idea!

Thanks for looking and have a great hump day!

WOYWW #226

Happy Ednesday and happy WOYWW. What is WOYWW? WOYWW stands for What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday and is the creation of Julia Dunnit. You can visit her blog to find our more and join in the fun. Last week I went to the Mall of America for ScrapFest. There were a lot of make and takes and yesterday I decided to see what pictures I could out in a few of the layouts I brought home from those make and takes. This layout started out as a single pager (still is) but I decided it needs to be a double. So it looks like I will be making a trip to the store to see if I can find the same paper! If not, I have some other paper that might work.

WOYWW #225

Happy Wednesday! It is time for another What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday. To find out what it's all about or to join in the fun, go to Julia Dunnit's blog. I am not working on any projects currently. I was gone all weekend at the Mall of America having fun at ScrapFest! I thought I would show you my other table. This table is behind my main work space. I can swivel in my chair and grab some tools or stamp, or sort through boxes, etc. Right now it is covered with some things I brought to ScrapFest and things I received at ScrapFest. On the left are some clear 12x12 folders that I brought pages to work on at a crop. Now I need to put everything away that I didnt use! In the center is paper left from a layout I made at a workshop. On the far right, in the back is stuff I found in my closet that I want to work on or needs a home.

ScrapFest

Hello and happy Monday! I had a fabulous weekend. I had a chance to go to the Mall of America and go to ScrapFest. I also got to meet 3 of my blogging buddies while I was there: Brandy, Brenda, and Maggie. It was so great to meet up in person for a change instead of cyber space. We had a great time visiting vendor booths and making Make and Takes. We went to a crop and did some fun workshops. We even did a little shopping!

Here is just a sample of the make and takes we did at ScrapFest:

Thrill of the Hunt

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

I thought I would share the finished layout I was working on last week and posted on WOYWW. I added some flowers (flowers always seem to work on any layout) and I think I am done with this layout. I added some burlap flowers and die cut flowers and a few circles. In case your wondering, I used white Thickers for the title and recolored them with Tim Holtz alcohol inks.

WOYWW #223

Good morning and happy Wednesday! It's time for What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday. If your wondering what it's all about, head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog to find out and maybe even join in!

Today I have a scrap page that I am trying to resceu. I found this layout in a stack of layouts that I either made or received in swaps but hadn't out any pictures on it yet. I made it just over 3 years ago. I thought I could use  it and printed some pictures. I wasn't too pleased with the layout. It I thought I could rescue it somehow by adding the title and some embellishments. Well that's where I got stuck.

I added a burlap border, some washi tape and staples. I even moved the chipboard flower but I am still not happy with it. I might be replacing the chipboard flower with a larger flower. I haven't decided yet. It needs to sit for a while!

Carefree Days

Hello! I actually had a little bit of time to make a card! I thought this Changito stamp would make a great card for a man. I used my Copics to color it and I am not sure if you can see but I also used the Atyou Spica glitter pen on his little spatula.

WOYWW #222

I know, I am late! It's Thursday but I just got a chance to get around to posting. It's time for another What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday. If your wondering what WOYWW is, just head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog and check it out. I do not have any current projects or anything unfinished on my desk but I do have a new toy! I bought myself a little birthday gift and isn't it just beautiful! I couldn't resist the price and I decided that it was getting to be a pain in the rear ordering prints and either waiting for them to come in the mail, or having to go pick them up. So now I can print my pictures as I scrap! It's a nice large format so if I ever got the inclination to try digital scrapbooking, I can.

Hopefully next week I'll be posting some actual projects! Hubby and I have been in the throes of a DIY home improvement project. Refinishing the kitchen cabinets and giving them a fresh, look. We just finished the kitchen island and will be starting on wall of base cabinets. I have some birthday cards to get out so I hope to work on those this weekend.

WOYWW #221

It's Wednesday and another What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday! I was looking through an album trying to find a set of pictures. I was sure I hadn't scrapped them but couldn't find the pix! I was right and hadn't scrapped them, but I saw a LO in the album that I wasn't happy with and decided to try and "fix" it.
I removed a die cut that said Bon Voyage and looked rather plain and so I added these waves. I had cut them out for another project and had extra that I had saved. I also saved the negative of the cuts, cuz you never know if you might need it!

WOYWW #220

Well, I was feeling a little peer pressure, or maybe just a little left out since several of my blog buddies have been participating on What's on Your Wordesk Wesdnesday. So I thought I would give it a go this week!

I don't have a lot going on right now! I thought I'd show you most of my work space.  I do have one scrap page I started but don't really care it for at this moment and I haven't gone back to work on it. I just keep looking at it and hope it grows on me.  I need to decide if I am tossing the papers and starting with new, nicer paper that I like!

Christmas Surprises

Hello and happy August! I have two out of three kids back in school. One left to go. I am so not ready for summer to end!  I am still not spending a whole lot of time crafting. Okay, actually I'm not spending any time crafting! I do have one layout to share that I managed to squeeze in some time to make. I used BasicGrey's Eskimo Kisses collection to make this page. I used a Rolodex punch to punch the top of the journal spot to mimic a notebook page. I also added a Sizzix die cut behind the felt poinsettia.

BasicGrey - Olivia Layout

Happy July! Sorry I have been missing for the last two months but it is summer and I spend more time outdoors than indoors this time of year. There hasn't been much time to get crafty much less get on the computer.  Between yard work, house guests and enjoying our lazy summer days in the pool I haven't had time to craft. So I just wanted to make a quick post today to let you know I am still around, just not as much.

I used BasicGrey's Olivia and the fabric flowers are from Prima. There is one flower from BaiscGrey but is from a hair clip!  I just took the flower off the clip, and voila, instant embellishment! I also cut two flowers from my Cricut (Accent Essentials cartridge) to layer under one of the fabric flowers.

Dream

Happy Wednesday! Today I have an altered notebook to share. This is for a gift for a young girl. I used my Cricut to make all the elements on the notebook. I just discovered the Flower Shoppe cartridge and I just love it!

I used the following cartridges on this project: Joys of the Season, Flower Shoppe, Gypsy Font, Gypsy Wanderings.

BasicGrey and National Scrapbook Day #4

Hello again! Here is another layout for the BasicGrey National Scrapbook Challenge. There are 11 challenges all together! For this challenge create a project where the top half features all of your photos and embellishments and the bottom half is left alone to allow for white space. Click here to see the original challenge.

I had these two itty, bitty wallet size photos that someone took with their cell phone. I would have printed them at 4x6 if I could, but the resolution just wasn't high enough. This challenge seemed like it might work for these pictures.

I used another old collection, Origins. I am down to my last 12 full size sheets so I need to make them count! The solid cardstock is Bazzill.

Please scroll down to see the other three layouts I made for National Scrapbook Day.

BasicGrey & National Scrapbook Day #3

Here is my third post today for BasicGrey's National Scrapbook Day. The challenge was to use a craft knife or scissors to cut around the design on patterned paper.

Another easy one. This is an easy way to make embellishments for your layout! I used a combination of Wassail and Jovial to make this layout. I cut out the large poinsettia from a sheet of MerryMaker and the gifts and ornament from a sheet of Nipping. I really like Jovial and wish I had some more!

Okay, so I made this layout after the circle layout with all the white space. So maybe I got a little carried with the patterned paper!

Please scroll down to see my other layouts for National Scrapbook Day!

BasicGrey & National Scrapbook Day #2

Here is my second layout for BasicGrey's National Scrapbook Day Challenge. The challenge was to punch or cut circles out of patterned paper and use as the main element on your project.

Easy Peasy! I used Two Scoops to create this layout. I know this is a very old line of paper but I like it and I have LOTS of it! LOL

Here is a link to the original challenge.

Please scroll down to see the first layout I did for BasicGrey's National Scrapbook Day Challenge!

BasicGrey & National Scrapbook Day!!!!

Hello and happy Sunday! Yesterday was National Scrapbook Day. BasicGrey had a whole bunch of inspiring challenges on their blog. This is the first page I created. The challenge was to use non-holiday themed paper to document a holiday. So I decided to scrap an Easter picture. I do have other paper with cute bunnies and eggs and cute saying like Hippity Hoppity but this challenges seemed fun to do something different.

The pattern paper is all from Hello Luscious, the brads are from Olivia, and the journalling tag is from Green at Heart. I cut the title out with my Cricut using the Jasmine cartridge.

The solid card stock is from DCWV. The solid green card stock with the Hello Luscious collection was a little lighter than I wanted. The DCWV was just right!

You're A Star!

Hello and happy Wednesday! I hope every one is having a great May Day!! Time sure is flying by. Speaking of time flies, the little guy in this layout is now 11 years and 7 months old!

For this layout I used a sketch I found at the Let's Scrap site. I used BasicGrey's Oliver collection  for this layout and a teeny tiny bit of KaiserCraft DP and Bazzill card stock. I used my Cricut to cut out the large star and circles.
